Solar panels

There are 58 solar panels on our roof that contribute daily to reducing our energy consumption.

Laundry

We ask our guests to use their towels more than once. A towel on the floor will be replaced, while a towel on the hook indicates it will be used again.

Insulation

In 2023, our hotel was expanded with 5 hotel rooms and 9 apartments. These new spaces are all insulated with 10 centimeters of insulation material. This helps reduce our gas consumption in winter and keeps our rooms cooler for longer in summer.

Underfloor heating

The floors in the renovated section are equipped with underfloor heating, so our boilers no longer need to heat to 90 degrees in winter, but only to 45–50 degrees.

LED lighting

All lighting in our hotel is LED lighting.

Breakfast to prevent waste / Anti-waste breakfast

At our breakfast, we use large packages as much as possible and minimize single-use packaging. For example, we’ve replaced individual jam portions with large jars of jam. It’s also a daily challenge to bake just the right number of bread rolls to avoid waste. If the rolls happen to run out and you'd like another one, we’ll be happy to bake a fresh one for you.

Refillable Rituals soap

All our rooms are equipped with Rituals soap, of course in a refillable dispenser.

Water bottles in the room

Each room has empty bottles that our guests can use to fill or refill with water. The tap water in Zandvoort comes from the Amsterdam Water Supply Dunes. Thanks to natural filtration, the water is rich in minerals and of high quality. Naturally, the bottles are made from recycled PET.

Sedum roof

Part of our roof is covered with sedum. Besides the fact that the green roof looks much more attractive, it also provides food for insects and birds. It also retains much more rainwater, and the plants help ensure a more even drainage of the water.

Train instead of car

Zandvoort is unique with its train station. In no other seaside resort is it just a 5-minute walk from the train to the beach. We encourage all our guests to travel by train instead of by car, in order to reduce our guests' CO₂ emissions.

Shared mobility

As entrepreneurs, we are also active in Zandvoort. In 2022, we took the initiative to make shared mobility possible in Zandvoort. In collaboration with the Municipality of Zandvoort, Felyx, and GO Sharing, we managed to bring e-scooters to our boulevard within just five months. In 2022 alone, nearly 300,000 kilometers were traveled to and from Zandvoort using shared e-scooters – powered by electric motors instead of gasoline engines.

The future & our ambitions

Sustainability is a continuous process in which we seek a balance between green ambitions and affordability. As SME entrepreneurs, we invest step by step in sustainable solutions.

We are working on energy storage with batteries and exploring ways to reduce our gas consumption by using electric elements in our boilers. In addition, we are committed to alternative mobility solutions to further enhance the sustainability of our coastal town.
